Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) or cellulose gum is a cellulose derivative with carboxymethyl groups (-CH2-COOH) bound to some of the hydroxyl groups of the glucopyranose monomers that make up the cellulose backbone. It is often used as its sodium salt, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose
IT is used in food under the E number E466 or E469 (when it is enzymatically hydrolyzed) as a viscosity modifier or thickener, and to stabilize emulsions in various products including ice cream. It is also a constituent of many non-food products, such as toothpaste, laxatives, diet pills, water-based paints, detergents, textile sizing, reusable heat packs, and various paper products. It is used primarily because it has high viscosity, is nontoxic, and is generally considered to be hypoallergenic as the major source fiber is either softwood pulp or cotton linter. CMC is used extensively in gluten free and reduced fat food products. In laundry detergents, it is used as a soil suspension polymer designed to deposit onto cotton and other cellulosic fabrics, creating a negatively charged barrier to soils in the wash solution. CMC is used as a lubricant in artificial tears.

CMC is also used as a thickening agent, for example, in the oil-drilling industry as an ingredient of drilling mud.

Versatile Industrial Thickener and Stabilizer

Our Carboxy Methyl Cellulose serves as a superior thickening and stabilizing agent for various industrial processes. Suitable for applications where high viscosity and water retention are required, CMC ensures optimal texture, consistency, and performance, making it essential for formulators and manufacturers.

Dependable Quality and Customization

We supply CMC of technical grade, adhering to stringent quality measures such as low lead content (2 ppm) and minimal heavy metals (0.002%). Viscosity and particle size can be tailored to your requirements, providing flexibility in diverse industrial applications. Customized packaging is also available to suit client needs.

FAQ's of Carboxy Methyl Cellulose:

Q: How is Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC) typically used in industrial applications?

A: Carboxy Methyl Cellulose is primarily utilized as a thickener, binder, stabilizer, and emulsifier in industrial processes. Its high viscosity and water retention properties make it ideal for formulations in adhesive, textile, ceramics, detergent, and paper manufacturing industries.

Q: What benefits does using high-viscosity CMC offer?

A: High-viscosity CMC provides superior thickening, enhances product stability, and improves water retention in mixtures. Its consistency helps control the texture and flow of products, contributing to improved final product quality and process efficiency.

Q: Where should CMC be stored and what is its shelf life?

A: CMC must be stored in sealed containers at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. Under recommended conditions, it maintains its quality and efficacy for up to two years from the date of manufacture.

Q: How can the viscosity and particle size of CMC be customized?

A: Viscosity and particle size can be modified during the manufacturing process according to the needs of clients. You can specify desired parameters when ordering, ensuring the CMC supplied best matches your intended industrial use.

Q: What processes involve the use of Carboxy Methyl Cellulose?

A: CMC is used in various processes such as thickening pastes, stabilizing emulsions, binding powders, and controlling the rheology of liquid mixtures. It dissolves readily in water, producing clear, stable solutions for easy incorporation.

Q: What packaging options are available for this product?

A: Standard packaging is 25 kg bags, but we offer customized packaging solutions based on customer requirements to ensure convenient handling and storage during transportation and use.

Q: Is Carboxy Methyl Cellulose safe for handling and transport?

A: Yes, CMC is non-poisonous, tasteless, and odorless. It poses no significant health or safety hazards under normal industrial handling and transportation conditions.
